This is a brand new distillery. So it can only improve. It will develop it's character over the years, as it starts to to release it's own product. Building and location are great. Steeped in history. From a historical point of view, this is a great attraction. The museum gives a great insight into the history of Scottish whisky and the role Glasgow had in making it a world renowned product. The distillery itself, is fairly small. I feel, it lacks depth. A lot of this comes down to the fact thay it has just opened. The actual distillery part of the tour is over very quickly. There is a quick presentation of the process, then you are walked through it. I have seen the tour presented a lot better in other distilleries. In saying that, our tour guide displayed a good, keen knowledge of whisky and it's processes. He was very friendly and approachable. The tasting session was informative, comfortable, without that pretentious feeling you get in some tours. However, as it's brand a new distillery, you can't taste the Clydeside whisky yet. So they opted for a range of other whiskys from across Scotland. Which, if I am honest, could have been better. Appeared nearly a bit cheap. I believe, on speaking to staff there is a plan to get a range of 10 year whiskys from across Scotland for you to try. Which I'm hoping would be a lot better. The shop at the end. Every distillery needs one. However, I feel this is pretty pointless. Nothing compels you to buy a whisky here. Every whisky on offer, you can easily get on line or your local super market and cheaper, with a few marquee bottles, as an exception, which the average person cannot afford. Each whisky would appear to have a mark up of £10 to £20. Making it a lot less desirable. With your tour ticket you get a 5% discount. Which again has no real benefit, with such a mark up. There are a few quirky blends which may be worth the purchase, simply based on the entertaining labels. In all, the staff are very friendly, the building is and location are great. There is a lot of improvement to made with the distiller, which will come with age, like any good whisky. I did enjoy the experience and do look forward to coming back but probably after a good few years.
